Building the school of the future, one journey at a time: my notes from the Erasmus+ kick-off in Florence

Firenze Kick off Erasmus 2026 - Costruire la scuola del futuro

What does it really mean to bring the European dimension into our classrooms? Is it merely a matter of forms and funding, or does it entail opening up an entirely new horizon for our students and teachers? With this question in mind, on October 1, 2026, I traveled to Florence—specifically to the Palazzo degli Affari—to represent our school at the official kick-off event for Action KA121, organized by the INDIRE Erasmus+ National Agency. It was a highly anticipated event that marked the operational launch of the new accredited mobility program for our Scuola Holden. It was not the typical formal gathering, but rather an opportunity for genuine, highly practical exchange.

Key Takeaways from the Day

  • Exchanging experiences and contacts with schools abroad: It was a valuable opportunity to share information, ideas, and direct contacts with colleagues and institutions from across Italy and Europe. Laying the groundwork for new partnerships and student exchanges was both immediate and inspiring.
  • Navigating bureaucracy together: By engaging directly with Agency representatives and those with prior experience managing these projects, we addressed and clarified many minor “hurdles” and questions regarding the program’s bureaucratic procedures. Understanding how to streamline practical management will allow us to focus on what truly matters: the value of the experience for both students and teachers.
  • New connections for the future: I am returning with a notebook full of relationships and contacts that will prove vital in the coming years. Being part of this network means never having to plan alone and being able to rely on trusted partners across Europe.

Ready to get started?

I return from Florence with enthusiasm and the certainty that the mobility projects we are preparing will be unforgettable life experiences. It is an opportunity for our students to gain independence and for our teaching team to embrace new challenges using cutting-edge methodologies.
The coming months will bring exciting new developments for the entire school community.
And what about you are you ready to come aboard for this new European adventure?
