It is possible to pursue both your studies and high-level competitive sports.
At the Pascal High School (*Liceo Pascal*) in Chieri specifically at its Via San Filippo campus student-athletes can follow a personalized educational path, balancing classes, training sessions, and competitions.
The ministerial "High-Level Student-Athlete" program allows high school students to reconcile their academic commitments with competitive sports. To qualify for this framework, students must meet specific criteria established annually by the Ministry such as achieving recognized athletic results, holding certain rankings within sports federations, or being selected for national teams. Eligibility must be certified by the relevant sports governing body.
The program includes a "Personalized Educational Path" (PFP), which allows for the scheduling of exams and oral assessments, the coordination of catch-up sessions for lessons missed while traveling for sports, and the use of digital learning tools to stay connected with the school. While academic objectives remain unchanged, the organization of instruction is adapted to accommodate the students' athletic commitments.
Many students at the Pascal High School are involved in competitive sports, ranging from golf and swimming to skiing and volleyball. Among them is Anita, a fourth-year student in the *Liceo Scientifico* (science-focused high school track), who has achieved significant success in international youth golf. "The Pascal High School has been truly vital to my sports career. Without the teachers who supported me consistently even when I was training abroad I wouldn't have had the focus required to compete in international tournaments," says Anita.
Vittorio, another student-athlete at the school, notes: "Every student should have the chance to balance sports and academics, though that isn't always the case..." Other students participating in this program include Francesca and Lorenzo, both competitive skiers, as well as several young swimmers. For several years, Liceo Pascal has collaborated with Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, a women’s volleyball club competing in the Serie A1 league. Through this partnership, young volleyball players attend Liceo Pascal, where the school supports their academic progress, coordinating it with their training sessions, matches, and travel commitments. Fenera recognizes and endorses Liceo Pascal as its designated school for the education of its athletes.
For students involved in competitive sports who are looking for a school that caters to student-athletes in Turin and its surrounding province, Liceo Pascal offers the opportunity to spend a trial day in class, meet the teachers, and learn more about how the school helps students balance their academic studies with their athletic commitments.
