At our schools—Pascal High School, Holden Middle School, and Daisy Primary School—students frequently transfer during the school year. This phenomenon reflects family dynamics and individual choices that influence their educational path. Below, we will explore the regulations governing transfers from school to school.
Legislative Decree No. 127 of September 9, 2025, Article 1, paragraph 3, states: "Within the first two years of secondary school, students may request, no later than January 31 of each school year, enrollment in the corresponding class of another major, specialization, or option. The school chosen for subsequent attendance will adopt supplementary teaching interventions aimed at ensuring the acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for inclusion in the chosen program, in order to promote educational success and reorientation."
This transition applies to secondary school students, specifically those in the first two years. The decree establishes that students in the first and second years may change majors no later than January 31 of the current year. If a student decides to transfer from a technical institute to a high school, or from a high school with a scientific focus to a high school with a linguistic focus, the school chosen by the student will be responsible for preparing educational interventions to ensure the student has acquired the necessary skills.
If the student simply wishes to change schools without changing majors, the transfer deadline remains March 15.
Regarding the third and fourth years, the decree clarifies: "Starting from the third year of upper secondary school, students, following the final assessment, may request enrollment in a corresponding class in another major, major, or optional subdivision of the same school level at the school chosen for their continuation of studies, after passing a supplementary exam. The supplementary exam is held in a single session to be concluded before the start of classes." Quite simply, third- and fourth-year students have the option to change majors after completing the school year (they must finish the school year in June) and pass a supplementary exam that will cover the subjects not covered in their new major. This supplementary exam will be administered by the new school by August 31st, the end of the school year. If the student has outstanding academic credits in September, they will take the supplementary exam conditionally, which means it will be valid only if they pass the September exam at their previous school.
When transferring a student from primary school (elementary) or middle school (middle school), there is no specific time limit for the request. However, it is recommended to submit the application within the first four months of the year. This allows for a better assessment and integration of the student into the new school environment, giving new teachers time to get to know the student.
To complete the transfer during the school year, certain documents must be submitted. First, you must send a request to the Headmaster or Academic Coordinator of the new school, specifying the reasons for the transfer. The new school's office will respond to the request, generally based on class availability. After receiving acceptance from the new school, simply download the enrollment form from the school's website, complete it, and send it to the office along with the authorization, which must be requested in advance from the office of the previous school.
The authorization request can be sent via email. If the reason for the transfer is adequately justified, the authorization should be issued without difficulty. Finally, the previous school will send the documentation (student's personal file) to the new institution.
Many parents choose to transfer their children to our schools—Pascal private high schools, Holden private middle school, and Daisy primary school—for a variety of reasons. Our schools stand out for their afternoon study opportunities, homework support, and a special focus on language learning. The educational programs include hours dedicated to English, as Daisy Primary School and Holden Middle School are part of the CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL CIRCUIT. Specifically, Daisy Primary School has adopted Cambridge Primary, while Holden Middle School follows Cambridge Lower.
